In the summer of 2023 Huis Marseille showed Take This with You / Pran sa avèk ou, the first ever European exhibition of work by the Haitian born artist Widline Cadet. She uses her photographic practice to reflect on the nature of her diasporic experience, addressing ideas of kinship, intergenerational legacy, and the fragility of memory. Apparent opposites such as presence and absence, fact and fiction, or past and future recur in all shades and nuances.
On the occasion of Widline Cadet’s exhibition Take This with You / Pran sa avèk ou, these beautiful variations of the classic Huis Marseille tote bag were produced in a limited edition of 25 pieces, with a design personally selected by Widline Cadet herself. The design of this tote was based on the flowers from Cadet’s work Sa yo se premye rido ou achte mwen renmen, pa gen anyen ki ka wè soti nan deyò / These Are the First Curtains You’ve Bought That I’ve Liked, Nothing Can Be Seen from Outside , 2020.
